Equipment  200 Most Played Songs  Wedding Music

A note from the president...

Yes, you will find services at lower prices (and many companies much more expensive than ours) but with research you will find that we are perhaps the most competitive music entertainment service available on the west coast.  We strive for music production and sound quality for your event to be as professional as the “Academy Awards” and not like a “junior-high school play.”

With 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry including mobile DJ services, pro audio sound engineering and producer, pro-audio consultant, composer, singer/songwriter/guitarist, performer, music educator, live sound engineering, stage management and concert promotion we are obviously unique and highly qualified within the entertainment industry.

Our sound systems total up to 12,000 watts of power depending upon event location, weather conditions and number of guests.  Services are delivered by full-time trained “pro audio” professionals (not just DJs or novice part-time amateurs) with multi-processed, state-of-the-art professional equipment with a $2,000,000 aggregate liability policy in force.

Often times consumers get the lowest priced DJ for their “once-in-a-lifetime” event only to only to regret their decision because of persons “masquerading” as DJs who are under-trained and uneducated in the field.  Many are unprofessional high school or college students trying to earn extra money or persons who otherwise work full-time jobs and perform “DJ” jobs to make ends meet. Consumers are then not given the attention that their event deserves or the expertise.  They also have to deal with inferior equipment, training, music selection, professionalism, appearance and work ethic.

(Quite honestly, it’s usually a “guy thing;”  DJ and audio equipment to the untrained professional can be like a “fast car” where some guys just have to “show-off” their power with a mentality of: “loud is good, louder is better, loudest must be the ultimate!” – Sorry, it doesn’t work that way! )

I encourage you to do your homework and make an intelligent decision in your DJ service.  Also, feel free to visit and utilize my website for many various resources.  Passion for the music and entertainment industry is what drives us and will always be.

Dennis J. Barela, President: DJB Field Services, Inc.

Professional DJ's:

  • Use professional equipment and not home stereo equipment or equipment not specifically designed for sound reinforcement.

  • Will meet with you in advance and listen to your ideas and help plan your reception or special occasion.

  • Will not try to be the focal point of the party. The Bride & Groom or guest of honor should never share the spotlight!

  • Play the music that you have requested and/or are familiar with and not "the same music they have played at the last 100 events."

  • Will be setup on time with time allotted for reasonable early arrivals or any delays that may occur.

  • WILL NOT subcontract your event without first approving it by you.

  • Will have many references of clients and business professionals.

  • Always use contracts for your protection and theirs as well.

  • Have liability insurance if a mishap should occur.

  • Will not invite potential clients to your event to view their performance. A DJ can not give you and your guests 100% of their attention if they are trying to sell to other uninvited guests.

If I said that our services cost $99 for 4 hours...

Would you hire us?

                               . . . I hope not!

The fact is that you don’t!

Ask yourself; “WHY would a DJ company charge significantly lower than the average in the area or in the state?

Don’t get burned!

Do your research!

Ask Questions!

* That "Bargain DJ"  service  will probably: *

1) Have terrible equipment:

(You probably will not be able to hear announcements & toasts properly)

(Later in the evening when you really want to "pump" the music

it probably won't be "up to par")

2) Have little or no experience:

(Probably only works part time or for extra money while in college)

3) Will not plan with you in advance:

(He will arrive, turn on his "DJ unit in a briefcase" and "wing-it!")

Think this doesn't happen?  ~~~  Ask your friends and family!

Negative comments commonly made about "Bargain DJs":

  • *  The DJ showed up late or didn't show up at all.

*  They didn't play what I asked them to play.

  • *  The DJ played music I specifically asked them not to play.

*  The DJ that showed up was not the DJ we originally interviewed.

  • *  Their equipment sounded horrible.  (or)  We could not understand the DJ and people could not hear in the back of the room.

  • (We could go on and on, unfortunately, but we will save you the time)

Also note that...  If you want A crazy DJ who will "whip your crowd into a frenzy," quite honestly, we are NOT the company for you.

Our philosophy is to stay "low-keyed" and to keep the focus upon the guests of honor and/or the bride and groom.  We would NEVER say or do anything that hasn't already been pre-planned or that hasn't received your permission in advance.  We are NOT "obnoxious-slick" DJs.  We are not comedians.

We are professionals who help create an organized,  skilled, eloquent, fun, memorable event that you and your family, friends and/or employees and customers will long remember.

Ask yourself these questions before you plan your next event:

  • If I invite 200 or 300 of my closest friends and family, do I want them to have...an okay time, or do I want them to have THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES?

  •

  • Will the ice sculptures and decorations make or break my event, or will the entertainment be the most important element to get my guests having fun at the party/reception?

Choosing entertainment is... the most important decision a party host or bride and groom will have to make for their party or reception. The entertainment they choose will either make or break their event, and will set the tempo for the entire affair. When shopping for entertainment, consider not just the price of the entertainment, but more importantly what you're getting for that price.

What should you look for in a Professional Disc Jockey?

       The ability to:

  • Adapt his or her own personality to fit your event.

  • Play music for every age group & know when to play it.

  • Coordinate certain aspects of your event.

  • Work with the other professionals at your event. (i.e; photographers, banquet managers, videographers, etc.)

  • Provide a sound & lighting system big enough and good enough to handle your event, as well as have backup equipment on hand.

  • Supply references and a contract.

Price vs. Value:  Does this mean the higher the price of the DJ the more Professional they are? Simply put - No.  But consider this:  If you go down the list of DJ's in your area and the average price is $1000 why would some DJ's quote or undercut the average price $200 dollars or more?  Why are they willing to charge so much less than others in there area?  What services or quality is being sacrificed for this lesser amount?

Unfortunately, the DJ industry is not currently regulated.  You will probably receive quotes from DJ's greatly differing in their abilities, qualities and value.  The only way to be sure that you will get the service that you expect is to research, interview and ask questions.  This extra effort could help prevent your dream reception from becoming a nightmare.

Quite honestly; we are NOT the cheapest out there.  But we are light years away from the expensive services.  In fact, our customers complete "post-performance" service feedback forms and usually tell us that they received more than their money's worth!

Jerry's final "food for thought:"

Photographers often say;

"We capture the moments that last a lifetime."

But a quality entertainer will create the moments that a photographer captures.
